It can cause pathological symptoms like compulsive usage and can interfere with work, school and social relationships. Online Gaming and gambling, porn addiction, video addiction and online purchases are the most common noted compulsive behavior patterns. The excess usage of smartphones can cause alterations in the nerve wiring of the brain and such alterations can cause attention deficit, memory processing speed, and other cognitive impairments. If one spends long hours onscreen which yields adverse effects on the visual system also. Mobile phone addiction activates the reward system of our brain which is the same as the reward system while the person is on drugs: you get an instant high every time we use it.
